Hector R. Morales
Hello! I’m Hector Morales, and I’m thrilled to share my journey with you. Here’s a little about me and my family — my wonderful wife and our two amazing sons, Jacob and Elijah, who inspire the main characters in my book series, Jake and Eli’s Adventures.
My Passion for Learning and Teaching
I have a genuine love for learning, and I always tell my kids that I strive to discover something new every day. Teaching others is a big part of that passion. One of my top strengths is “Learner,” and I take great joy in helping others grow and learn. I often joke that my job is finished when someone can take my spot — no pressure, right?
My dream is to become an adjunct professor someday, but for now, I’m channeling my energy into teaching the coolest students of all: my kids!Whether it’s helping with homework or coaching soccer, I love watching their faces light up when they grasp something new.
The Inspiration Behind Jake and Eli's Adventures
Throughout my life I’ve watched technology transform — from bulky black-and-white TVs with rabbit-ear antennas (that my sisters and I constantly adjusted) to the first personal computers and floppy disks, PalmPilots and pagers, pay phones, and now flat-screen TVs, smartphones, smart devices, cloud computing, and the promise of quantum. That journey inspired me. In 2016, I sketched the idea for a picture-book series to explain technology to kids — not just where it came from, but how it works and how to use it safely. Today I’m excited to bring that series to life.
In these books, your children will follow Jake, Eli, and their glowing guide Techtor on fun, fast-paced adventures through the evolution of technology — from punch cards and giant mainframes to home PCs, tablets, and beyond — learning the hows, the whys, and the safe ways to explore the digital world.

You might be wondering about the name Techtor. It’s a mashup of my name, Hector, and my love of technology — a nickname colleagues used for me — and it felt perfect for a friendly, helpful tech guide. I can’t wait for young readers to meet Techtor and join the adventures
